UNESCO World Heritage sites are locations (parks, mountains, cities, etc.) that are maintained by the International World Heritage Programme. The goal of this programme is to conserve historical and culturally significant regions of the world deemed important to humanity. The current list is comprised of 851 sites! Unfortunately, I've only visited 16 (which really isn't too shabby) ...but this will be remedied in my future travels! Here are the World Heritage sites I have visited so far:
• Guanacaste, Costa Rica
• Cathédrale Notre-Dame, France
• Mont Saint Michel, France
• Palace of Versailles, France
• Carcassonne, France
• Loire Valley, France
• Historic Center of Mexico City, Mexico
• Morelia, Mexico
• Cusco City, Peru
• Machu Picchu, Peru
• Lima, Peru
• The Nazca Lines, Peru
• Everglades National Park, USA
• Redwood National Park, USA
• Olympic National Park, USA
• Yosemite National Park, USA
